The success story of the Fakir company began in 1933 when Wilhelm Kicherer,
the father of the present main shareholder Heinz Kicherer,
founded a factory in the town of Muehlacker.
The company expanded quickly.
Fakir soon became a well-known hallmark of high quality and innovative technology in the area of domestic appliances.
The company grew consistently and in 1978 with great foresight,
the management decided to expand with the purchase of new,
large premises in Vaihingen/Enz.
Part of the production was moved from Muehlacker to the new premises because
the original factory which was based in the town centre had to give way to the
redesigning of Muehlacker town centre and in particular the Muehlehof cultural and shopping mall.
This extensive expansion went hand in hand with the innovative development of the company.
Today, as from the beginning, Fakir's focus is set firmly on intensive research and development
carried forward by the company management and highly motivated as well as qualified staff in all
departments. Fakir has met the challenges of a growing European market and rapid changes in technology
with its high quality products and with certification according to DIN EN ISO 9001, thus creating an
unmistakable profile marked by quality and reliability.
The sales organisation of the company, into which the nilco-Reinigungsmaschinen GmbH was
incorporated in 1961 for the industrial cleaning machines sector, has over 13 regional trade
agencies in Germany and a network of 140 authorized workshops.
The globalization of the economy is developing fast. Already today 20 % of the worldwide
gross domestic product is produced in global markets and in the years to come this share will be
increased greatly. Therefore, thinking and acting in a global context is the basic requirement for
future success.
Throughout the world, 60 Fakir/nilco agencies prove the constant success of this Vaihingen-based company in a
hotly contested and competitive market.
Along with the expansion of the company, the range of Fakir/nilco products has also been adapted to the
constantly changing and growing demands and the different requirements of private households and
industrial customers. It includes electrical cleaning appliances of all kinds for household and industry
such as vacuum cleaners, brush vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and wet cleaning appliances. In a second
product section, electrical direct heating appliances such as fan heaters, rapid heaters, convectors,
radiators and storage heaters are produced and marketed. The range is rounded off by a third product line
consisting of cooling fans and air conditioners. Since 2003, innovative ironing boards and ironing
stations complete the range.
A modern, responsible company has to be aware of its part in the social and commercial
surroundings. Serving the requirements of our customers, meeting the quality standards and the
innovation level as well as the progress of our own company and its staff are of great importance
